Private Equity Analyst – Paid Internship (6 month)

This is a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience in Private Equity with a start-up feel.
Parmar Capital is a Vancouver based Search Fund raised and managed by a Yale MBA with Investment Banking experience in New York and Management Consulting experience in Toronto. Parmar Capital is searching to acquire a single BC-based business in the lower-mid market to own and operate for the long-term.
Responsibilities:
The analyst will work directly with the Principal and will play a key role in deal sourcing and analysis. As Parmar Capital is currently fully engaged in the sourcing stage of the fund, applicants can expect to spend more of their time focused on deal sourcing, along with the Principal.
Deal Analysis:
- Qualify investment opportunities, based on investment criteria
- Review confidential information on potential acquisitions and present analysis
- Review and development of financial models
- Develop and present Industry research
Deal Sourcing:
- Develop and execute mail/email sourcing campaigns to business owners
- Develop sourcing leads and provide feedback on investment hypotheses
- Track performance and improve sourcing process
- Conduct industry and small business research to develop leads and investment hypotheses
- Maintain and update deal flow database
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree, MBA, or a recent graduate in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field
- Strong interest in Finance and highly motivated to learn
- Strong communication skills
- Business acumen and analytical capabilities
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Strong experience in Microsoft Office
- Full Time availability (40 hrs/wk)
The Analyst will develop a ‘learning contract’ in conjunction with the Principal, which will outline the key skills and experiences s/he can expect to earn from this internship.
